Mokosh Restaurant
Mokosh Restaurant is set within Villa Tončić in Split — a historic house surrounded by a garden that shapes the way the space is experienced. The restaurant brings together Mediterranean cooking, contemporary design and a way of dining centred around the table.
What defines Mokosh is not a single element, but the way these layers come together — the place, the kitchen, and the people within it.
The Place
The restaurant is built within Villa Tončić, an early 20th-century residence designed as both a home and a composed environment. Behind its walls, a structured garden unfolds — a perivoj, with a central fountain and planted islands that organise the space.
The garden is not a backdrop, but part of the experience. Light, shade, sound and movement shape the rhythm of the day, from longer lunches to quieter evenings.
The Kitchen
The kitchen at Mokosh is Mediterranean in direction and rooted in Dalmatian tradition. Cooking follows the rhythm of the season and the region, guided by ingredients that belong to this place.
Dishes are designed to be experienced together. Preparation is approached with care and consistency, while technique is applied with purpose — to refine and bring clarity to each element.
The Chef
Chef Đorđe Marković leads the kitchen with an approach built around ingredients and respect for the product. His work reflects a combination of early connection to food, structured development through professional kitchens, and influences shaped by time spent in Italy and on the Adriatic coast.
His cooking brings together these elements into a style that is both disciplined and responsive, where structure and creativity exist in balance.
Design and Art
The interior of Mokosh brings contemporary design into dialogue with the historic structure of the villa. Developed by Studio 502 in collaboration with architect Katja Stubnja, the space combines Secession architecture with bold colour, material contrast and a Memphis-influenced approach.
Art is integrated throughout the space, with works by Jelena Bando and sculptural elements by Marko and Ivica Gašparić forming part of the overall composition.
At Mokosh, the villa, the garden and the kitchen are not separate elements. They shape a single experience — one that unfolds around the table, through time, and through the people who gather within it.

Why Mokosh?
In essence, the goddess Mokoš is an inspiration for promoting values such as sustainability, balance with nature, female strength and family, and respect for tradition and history, all of which are very relevant in today's world.
In modern times, the figure of the goddess Mokoš is reinterpreted as a symbol of sustainability, respect for nature and as an advocate of the balance between man and the environment.
Mokoš symbolizes the power of nature and its ability to nourish and protect us. Every fruit of the earth, every spice, every food we use, brings with it the story of the seasons, reminding us of the importance of respecting and connecting with the rhythms of nature.
Mokoš, as the protector of women, household and family, supports our vision of togetherness and support for each other, which is reflected in our atmosphere as a place where people gather, socialize and celebrate life together.
